One&Only Portonovi – Gourmet Heaven
Aug 28, 2024
Dear Friends,
We are living in a time of great global uncertainty – an era defined by shifts, challenges, and fast-changing dynamics that inevitably ripple across our region. The tourism and real estate sectors have felt this impact most acutely, pushing us all to reflect, recalibrate, and, most importantly, adapt. Yet within every challenge lies an opportunity, and our mission remains unwavering: to present the finest our region has to offer to the world.
In this spirit, we proudly continue to grow. This edition marks a significant milestone for us as we expand our presence into new markets and prestigious locations, now available in some of the most iconic hotels across Vienna, Budapest, and Bucharest: from the Rosewood and Park Hyatt in Vienna, to the Four Seasons in Budapest, to The Marmorosch and InterContinental in Bucharest, just to name a few.
In this issue, we take you on a curated journey: through the hidden gems of Budapest, including our top hotel picks and the majestic Castle of Tura – an extraordinary venue for unforgettable events. We then sail down the Adriatic coast, where Villa Dubrovnik reopens its doors and Istria shines as one of Europe’s most enchanting destinations. Discover the understated elegance of Meneghetti Hotel & Winery, the refined glow of Maistra Collection, and Croatia’s best-kept secret – San Canzian Hotel & Residences.
October in Rovinj will host the MBF event – a groundbreaking initiative designed to bridge industries and foster genuine collaboration across sectors. As we celebrate the best of Croatia, we must pay tribute to a true icon: the Esplanade Zagreb, proudly marking 100 years of elegance, tradition, and timeless hospitality.
Our story continues in Sarajevo, where major real estate developments like Park Residence, Europe Square, and R Tower are reshaping the skyline. In Belgrade, Delta District rises as a new symbol of urban luxury, anchored by the future InterContinental hotel.
And finally, we arrived in Montenegro. While the season may have started quietly, the industry remains optimistic. A warm welcome goes to Banyan Tree, now opening its first European resort on Mamula Island. Porto Montenegro continues to evolve, from luxury residences like Vero and Versa, to hosting The Ocean Race Europe finale this September – an event that will place Montenegro on the global stage. Meanwhile, Luštica Bay comes into full swing with Montenegro’s first golf villas, earning praise from none other than golf legend Gary Player himself.
This issue also features exclusive interviews with two remarkable personalities. I spoke with Accor’s Daniel von Barloewen about the group’s ambitious growth plans for Southeast Europe, and with Rico Picenoni, Director and Head of Savills Global Residential Development Consultancy, to explore the role Savills plays in placemaking – advising mixed-use resort developers on creating destinations. These conversations offer valuable insights into development trends, regional potential, and the ever-shifting flow of global wealth, as highlighted in Henley & Partners’ 2025 Private Wealth Migration Report.
And as always, we’re cooking up something new – from our Fashion and Wedding editions to a vibrant new Podgorica City Guide.
Thank you for being part of our story. Let’s keep moving forward – boldly, beautifully, and together
With gratitude,
Miodrag Spahić
