This year is forecasted to be the most exciting year for the people of Belgrade as the capital of Serbia will unveil its new and the most spectacular landmark in the recent history of the city. Yes, we’re talking about Kula Belgrade – the tallest and most modern building not just in Belgrade’s, but in the whole country!

This breathtakingly high building, at a height of 168 meters above ground consists of 42 floors. The building will become the tallest in Serbia by far, leaving even Beogradjanka and the Genex Tower behind. Designed by the renowned international design company Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Global, this architectural artwork is a real masterpiece – an innovative combination of centuries-old culture and urbanism that pushes the architectural standards in this area. But don’t pass over its location – Kula Belgrade is placed right in the city centre, close to the point where the two rivers meet, within the most attractive urban neighbourhood – Belgrade Waterfront, next to the stunning esplanade Sava Promenada and the largest shopping mall in the region, Galerija Belgrade.

Developing the architectural solution for Kula Belgrade was among most inspirational challenges for teams of architects engaged in the Belgrade Waterfront’s construction. They commenced with the idea of creating a powerful new symbol of Belgrade, which will be adequately integrated with the surrounding area at the same time. And the final project solution was born! Especially unusual is its elegant, rounded design that changes the shape from the 14th floor, where the building “twists”, and at the very top there is an observation deck with a panoramic view of the entire city.

The construction of Kula’s base covers 1,200 square meters area, but when we take into account the impressively landscaped public plateau around, it covers about 5,000-6,000 square meters in total – almost the same size as The White House!  And if you only consider the fact that the concrete slab consists of 5,000 cubic meters of concrete and reaches the thickness of 6.5 meters in some areas, which is the largest quantity of concrete poured at one piece in Serbia and the region, it’s becoming clear that this massive building, the symbol of the Serbian capital, won’t leave any citizen or tourist indifferent when they witness the building for the first (and indeed each other) time.
